What website is more popular than Elvis and even Hannah Montana? With more than 90 million users it's...MySpace.

However it is also the most poorly designed. This according to national magazine "PC World" a couple of years ago.

MySpace became immensely popular by making it easy to create a page,upload photos and videos and share personal details.

But with the ease, online predators were having a field day. By making 'friends' quickly the site became notorious for the exploitation of some users. Politicians parlayed the subsequent parental fears into votes. Now of course the same politicians further their own ambitions. You would be hard pressed to find someone in the political arena who does not have a page showcasing themselves and using the social networking site to their full advantage.

In a place where "U are soooooooo hot!!!" passes for wit, MySpace isn't doing much to elevate the level of social discourse.

In response to public outcries and some well-publicized lawsuits, MySpace has begun modifying its policies--for example, limiting adults' ability to contact minors. Some say that is not enough. Requiring some kind of authentication from MySpacers--or their parents--to validate their ages and identities would go a long way toward scaring off the creeps and making the site a kinder, gentler social network.

MySpace still remains a hotbed for teenagers with their musically and graphically 'pimped' pages.

In the midst of all this, It is also becoming a stomping ground for smart marketers grabbing this captive and extremely viral audience. They are fickle and may not have the best attention spans but one exciting offer can be a boon to your business.
